There are particular advantages to having your doors made from old wood, which you may not be aware of.
Due to this timber coming originally from big old trees, the appearance and character of the wood is more varied than modern “factory forested” wood and will accordingly closely resemble old dipped and stripped doors.
Just as important is the fact that having been in dry buildings for many decades, this wood is properly seasoned and will not warp or twist anymore. Any bent timbers were rejected during the process of transforming old joists, rafters, trusses etc, into solid dependable doors which will last for many decades more.
